Sector profile

Freight and logistics

For hauliers and freight forwarders where scheduling, customer inquiries and driver recruitment all end up on the same line.

The trigger

Why it usually gets rebuilt

Scheduling spends half the day answering status questions about consignments that were delivered long ago. Meanwhile driver applications arrive as a photo of a license over a messaging app and get lost among two hundred other messages.

Typical pages

  • Home
  • Palletized freight and part loads
  • Full loads and dedicated runs
  • Warehousing and order picking
  • ADR dangerous goods
  • Fleet and depots
  • Track a consignment
  • Driving jobs and contact

Features

What actually makes the difference

Not every website needs everything. These are the points that genuinely count in this trade.

Tracking without a login

Enter the consignment number, see the status. No account, no password — the person on goods-in has neither and otherwise phones the scheduling desk.

Freight inquiry with the right fields

Dimensions, weight, handling units, collection and delivery points, dock slot. An inquiry with those details can be planned; one that says "a few pallets going south" cannot.

Driver application in three minutes

License categories, driver CPC modules, dangerous goods experience, preferred work — local, trunking, home at weekends. From a phone, without a single attachment.

Subcontractor area

Hauliers upload their insurance certificate, operator license and vehicle list themselves and can see what is about to expire. It replaces the annual email round through the partner list.

Depot pages written for drivers

Per depot: approach for artics, dock hours, how to book in at the gate, where to park. These pages are not read by buyers but at night by someone in a cab.

Automation

What can run by itself

  1. Pre-advice to the consignee

As soon as the run is planned, a message with the delivery window goes to the consignee — with the option to decline it before the truck arrives at a closed gate.

  2. Proof of delivery sent automatically

After delivery the signed POD goes to the customer as a PDF. The single most common query to the scheduling desk answers itself.

  3. Driver applications answered same day

Every application immediately creates a callback task with a deadline. In the competition for drivers, whoever calls the same day usually wins.

  4. Inquiries pre-checked

Dimensions and weight are checked against fleet limits before the inquiry reaches scheduling. Anything needing heavy haulage or a special permit is separated out straight away.

  5. Subcontractor expiry dates

Expiring insurance, licenses and inspections are tracked. Four weeks ahead the system contacts the haulier, rather than the auditor contacting the customer.

Integrations

Types of system typically connected — which product exactly is something we work out in the call.

  • Transport management system for orders and runs
  • Telematics and vehicle tracking
  • Warehouse management
  • Time recording and drivers' hours analysis
  • ERP and accounting
  • Data exchange with customers' systems

Budget

$8,800 – $17,600

Tracking decides the price: it depends on a dependable interface to the transport management system, and the state of that is impossible to judge from outside. Without tracking and the subcontractor area the project sits well below this. The range is an assessment made before any system has been looked at.
