About this app

Ashcroft Logistics does not exist. Modules, questions, answers, names and deadlines on these screens are invented and replace no legally required safety briefing.

The demo stores no progress and issues no record. Checkboxes and answer fields are labeled but have no effect.

Module 3 — Industrial trucks

Section 7 — Riding along and carrying loads

An industrial truck is not a means of transport for people. Riding along is permitted only where the machine has a seat or standing platform built for it and the manufacturer expressly provides for it. Riding on the forks is never permitted, not even for a short distance.

Loads are moved with the forks lowered. They are low enough that the load keeps ground clearance and the view ahead stays clear. If the load blocks the view, the truck is driven in reverse — except when going up a ramp.

Anyone operating an industrial truck needs three things: training to the recognized safety rules, written authorization from the employer, and the annual briefing. If one of them is missing, they do not drive.

In the finished app these are photographs from the company’s own site. Everybody recognizes their own junction; nobody recognizes a stock photo.

Nine of twelve are needed to pass. An attempt can be broken off and resumed later — abandoned, it still counts as an attempt.

From module 3 — industrial trucks.

The load blocks your view ahead. How do you continue on level ground?

  • Forwards, but slowly and with the warning signal on

Correct. With the view blocked you drive in reverse. A person directing you does not replace your own line of sight, and raised forks reduce both stability and visibility at once.

Question 5

From module 2 — fire safety and escape routes.

A pallet has been standing on an escape route since this morning. What do you do?

  • Report it to the supervisor at the end of the shifttapped
  • Clear it immediately, provided that can be done safelycorrect
  • Nothing, as long as the route is still passable
  • Mark it with tape and leave it there

Not correct. An escape route has to be clear at all times, not by the end of the shift. Anyone who can clear it does so at once; if that cannot be done safely, it is reported immediately — not later.

In a warehouse this is not a nicety: there is regularly no signal in the hall, and the deadline runs all the same.

  • Loading

    The text appears first, images follow. Reading can start straight away — waiting for the first picture would be wasted time.

  • Nothing there

    Nothing downloaded

    Without signal there would then be nothing to do. The screen says so in advance and offers the way out instead of hiding it.

  • Failed

    Answers not transferred

    The answers stay on the device and are not discarded. A lost test attempt would be the most expensive mistake this app could make.

  • No connection

    No signal in the hall

    Downloaded modules can still be worked through. The test does not start while there is no connection — an interrupted attempt would otherwise count as an attempt.

Replaces the Saturday training room, the paper attendance list and the hunt for who signed what and when. The shift office sees where everybody stands without asking.

Everything in this demo is laid out and none of it acts: buttons only report that they have no effect in the demo, checkboxes are fixed, input fields lead nowhere. Nothing is stored, sent or fetched.

How Awelior would approach this project

Ashcroft Logistics, Scunthorpe is invented — the way it is built is not. None of this is work delivered for a client. It is the shape we would give such a project — with the same depth, but without a client who would have to answer for it.

Where it starts

Ashcroft Logistics has to brief every warehouse worker once a year — mandatory, documented, with a record. So far that means a training room, a paper attendance list and a Saturday slot for shift workers. And when the accident insurer asks who signed what and when, somebody goes looking for a binder.

Decisions

  • Modules instead of one session

    Short sections that fit into a break. Nobody sits through a continuous hour on a phone; four sections across two weeks, yes — and the progress is kept.

  • The record is the actual deliverable

    Not the content but the auditable record is the reason this project exists. So it gets a tab of its own instead of appearing as a confirmation page at the end of the test.

  • A test with visible explanations

    After the answer it says why it is right or wrong. A briefing that only quizzes produces clicking behavior — the explanation is the part that makes it a briefing.

Deliberately left outNo per-person reporting for managers. Who answered wrongly how often is performance monitoring; what is needed is completion, not a score — and that line is better drawn before the build than after.

How it would go on

  • Content and professional responsibility

    What gets briefed is set by the health and safety officer, not by the software. The app is the route, not the content.

  • Record keeping

    Who, when, which version — audit-proof and printable on request. That is the part an inspection wants to see.

  • Deadlines and reminders

    A briefing expires. Who is due again when, and who gets reminded, decides whether the system is still correct two years later.
