A general practice in Providence

Your practice by the millpond.

Three clinicians and one reception team. Appointments by type, repeat prescriptions without a phone call, consulting hours that are always current.

What people come to us for

General practice care for adults and young people from 14. Anything that belongs elsewhere leaves here with a referral note.

General practice care

Acute matters, ongoing treatment, discussing results, prescriptions. We keep one shared record, so whoever sees you knows your history.

Screening and check-ups

General health check, skin cancer screening, cancer screening. We examine, talk the findings through with you and note when the next check is due.

Vaccinations and record checks

Vaccinations and boosters following the national immunization guidance, plus a look through your vaccination record.

Care for long-term conditions

Structured programs with fixed review dates and coordination with the specialists treating you alongside us.

In an emergency

This website is not a route for emergencies. Reception reads messages from the form during opening hours only, and not at weekends or on public holidays.

If symptoms are life-threatening — severe chest pain, breathlessness, loss of consciousness, sudden weakness or difficulty speaking — call 112 immediately.

Outside our consulting hours and at weekends, the out-of-hours medical service is reached on 111. While a locum practice is covering for us, their hours apply; you will find them under the notices above.

Book a slot online

Each appointment type carries its own length, so there is time left in the consulting room. Anything short notice we handle in the walk-in clinic from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM on weekdays — no appointment needed.

The project frame

How Awelior would approach this project

The Millpond Practice is invented — the way it is built is not. None of this is work delivered for a client. It is the shape we would give such a project — with the same depth, but without a client who would have to answer for it.

Where it starts

The Millpond Practice is a group general practice. Its bottleneck is not the consulting room but the phone line on a Monday morning: repeat prescriptions, referrals, appointment changes and questions about opening hours all land with the same person. Every one of those four is answered faster on a website than on the phone.

Decisions

  • Consulting hours and appointments are two separate things

The hours sit on the practice page, the booking flow on a page of its own. Merged together, people read the hours and call anyway — separating them makes it visible that there is a second route.

  • A warm archetype against the tile-grid look

Rounded edges, calm arcs, centred layout. Practice websites usually look like a set of forms; here the feel is part of the message, because it anticipates the tone of the practice itself.

  • Two team blocks instead of one

Doctors on one side, practice staff on the other. In a group practice that is not cosmetic: whoever calls wants to know who they are speaking to, and the person making the appointment is rarely the doctor.

Deliberately left outNo symptom questionnaire, no preliminary diagnosis, no chat. A practice website that asks about complaints collects health data and has to treat it as such — a public page is the wrong place for that.

Five pages, in all four languages. Navigation, expandable questions, the gallery and the four-step booking flow with its summary all respond. Indicated only: practice photography, directions and the sending of the form; the consulting hours are sample values.

How it would go on

  • Connection to the practice management system

Appointments have to reach the practice calendar, with real consultation lengths, buffers and the split between walk-in and booked sessions.

  • Health data

Prescription requests and appointment wishes fall under special categories of personal data. That affects transport, storage, deletion periods and who on the team has access.

  • Cover and out-of-hours

Holiday closures, covering practices and the out-of-hours service belong visibly on the site — and have to be current, or they do damage.
